Monday Morning Inspirational(11-2-09)

November 2nd, 2009

On yesterday I preached about “The Path to Greatness”, Proverbs 3:1-10. In the 6th verse of Proverbs 3ch Solomon declares “if you acknowledge God in all your ways, God will make your paths straight.” When I researched that particular verse I discovered that the King was really saying that God is not only a guide, but God is much more than that. The 6th verse literally implies that God will go ahead of you and remove obstacles, and smooth out rough places but more importantly(Get Ready to Shout on this) God will carry you to your Destination and drop you off. WOW!

Now doesn’t that explain how you made it through school, trials and tribulations, raising those kids, stressful employment, and sickness. God simply picked you up from where you were and carried you to your present location. Get Ready this week for God to carry you to even higher places in your life. Remember, there is no valley that you are in that God can’t get you out of, nor is there any mountain that God can’t carry you over. Try singing this week that wonderful hymn “We are Climbing Jacob’s Ladder”, each round in your life should go higher and higher. Be Encouraged this week.

Today Saint Paul begins its Fall Revival 2009 with Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. as the guest revivalist. In the church I was reared in they would sing a song “Lord Send a Revival and let it begin with me”. We often times look at the guest preacher as the revivalist or evangelist and forget that God is the reviver. The definition of reviver is “one that is able to impart new health, vigor, or spirit, and to restore one to use.” All of us should be glad that no matter where we are in life presently or how inadequate we feel, God(reviver) is able to give us new life and restoration. Therefore, please take off that “Out of Service” badge you have been wearing. I declare on this day that God is getting ready to restore you back to your rightful place in life. Be Encouraged!

Join us tonight thru Wednesday for our Fall Revival at 7p.m. nightly. Peace and Love

Friday Morning Inspirational (10-9-09)

Congratulations! You made it through another week. Here in the Middle Georgia area there is a place called Central State Hospital. This Hospital takes care of patients with psychological/mental problems. Everytime I have a “Flashback Moment”(when I think of the goodness of Jesus and all he has done for me) I realize that I really should have a bed in Central State Hospital after all I have been through in life. One of the things that has kept me out of the psychological ward is Psalm 121. In the first two verses of that Psalm the psalmist declares, “I lift up my eyes to the hills- where does my help come from? 2) My help comes from the Lord the Maker of heaven and earth.” In essecence beloved, the psalmist is not only encouraging himself but is also talking to himself. He answers his own question while travelling through the Hills on his way to Jerusalem. Now talking to yourself in some persons mind is considered “loosing it”. In my childhood we called persons who talked to themselves crazy. Thank God I have gotten older. Just like this psalmist in Psalm 121 I have discovered in life that sometimes you gotta talk to yourself. Please here me well. There is nothing so bad or so burdensome going on in your life that God can not Help you through it or get you out of it. However, sometimes you have to talk to yourself while you are in it(trouble, darkness, & failure) to keep you from going crazy while God brings you out of it. So go on ahead today and talk to yourself and remember what the psalmist has told you, “Your Help comes from the Lord”. Encourage Yourself.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!

Monday Morning Inspirational (10-5-09)

October 5th, 2009

On last Wednesday during Bible Study I was emphasizing how believers should possess hope even in uncomfortable and especially Dark Times. In my preparation for that lesson and particularly that point on hope I discovered a wonderful statement/quote concerning dark times. The Bible Commentary(one of my many sources I use to prepare my sermons and Bible Study Lessons) stated “Stars only Shine when it is Dark”. Wow, what a statement. Could it be that God has allowed trouble, trials, and struggles(Dark Times) to come into your life to see how bright you will shine. Therefore, I declare this day that you will shine even in the midst of whatever Dark Times you are experiencing. Go ahead and light up your family, job, and relationships with your bad self. Remember, you are a Star! Don’t believe me? Matthew 5:14 & 16v[NIV] declares “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. In the same way, let your Light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” I told you that you were a star, now start acting like it.

Remember, it is going to be a good week. There is nothing that you will face this week that you and your God can’t get through. HAVE A GOOD WEEK!!!!!!

Friday Morning Inspirational(10-2-09)

October 2nd, 2009

Thank God it is Friday. What are you thinking about? Is your mind so focused on someone else that God feels neglected? Instead of looking forward to the weekend especially Sunday with excitement you are on the border of depression and misery. My good friend Pastor E. Dewey Smith Jr. of Atlanta, Ga often makes the statement “I am not going to let anyone occupy space in my mind rent free. If I am going to spend time thinking about you then you will have to pay me rent for that space.” I want to boldly declare this morning that it is time to evict some family, friends, co-workers and even church members from your mind especially if they have not been paying their rent on time for the space you are allowing them to occupy in your mind. Who do you need to evict today? If you are spending so much time thinking about them at least make them buy the blood pressure medicine, or pay for the Psychologist. Let me save you from all of that. Draft a letter right now officially notifying them that their time of occupancy in your mind has officially been terminated. Isaiah 26:3v [NIV] “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you.” Today is the day you take back your mind and peace.

Enjoy your weekend and the rest of your life. As Bishop Paul Morton declares in his song “Be Blessed”, “I see you in the future and you look better, I see you walking in favor and prosperity.” Make sure you get up and go to church this Sunday. God will be waiting on you. Peace and Love

Wednesday Morning Inspirational (9-30-09)

Well it is the end of another month. The middle of another week. Do you know what that makes you? “A Survivor”. That’s right you are a survivor. There are always three things that I never remove from my desk in my office. A Bible, Hymn Book, and a Dictionary. I keep the bible on my desk because I always want the word of God to be near me. I use the hymn book to read songs that speak to the various struggles of life. I keep a dictionary on my desk because I get tired of hearing persons use big words out of context. So in order to prevent me from doing so I look up the term to make sure I am within the ballpark lol. For some reason this morning I looked up the word survivor. A survivor is “someone who is able to remain alive or to endure.” Doesn’t that sound like you? You have been able to remain alive all of September and half way through another week. I am declaring that everyone that reads this Blog change your middle name to survivor because that is exactly what you are. Ronald Survivor Slaughter

Monday’s Morning Inspirational (9-28-09)

September 28th, 2009

Today I am home with my daughter because her body is adjusting to the new season. A year ago the Dr. informed my wife and I that our oldest daughter body would go through a change anytime the season changes. Of course Fall began last week and like clockwork Kellyn’s body began to adjust due to her allergies. The lesson my 4year old has taught me is that “Change is Difficult but often essential to Survival.” In order for her to survive and enjoy this season she has to endure this difficult period of adjusting to Fall. Wow!

Remember, it’s going to be a good week. There is nothing that you will face this week that you and your God can’t get through. HAVE A GOOD WEEK!!!!!!
